Visit to CEPSA R&D facility
Our Bachillerato students make contact with the cutting edge technologies and their practical application
Science students visit the CEPSA Research and development Center in Alcalá de Henares. This visit is part of the curriculum of the subject of Chemistry and Scientific Culture, in order to provide students with practical experience of the latest research in the extraction of oil and its transformation into lubricants and other products we use everyday. The students were able to observe firsthand the latest technologies applied to petroleum products, which also respect the environment, minimizing its impact on it. The center is located in an industrial park within the University of Alcala de Henares dedicated exclusively to research and development of new technologies. Some of the R & D have contributed to great improvements in both production and operation processes, to help maximize production with minimal impact on the environment, and the development of new fuels, based on components of agricultural origin, with less impact from the point of view of the contribution to the reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs).
We kindly thank all the staff of the center for their warm welcome and for allowing our students see firsthand the practical applications of what they learn the class.
