COVID19 measures before the beginning of the new 2020/21 academic year
“Do not aim for an easy life, but for one that is worth living.”
As you will probably know from the media, the Spanish Government has agreed on a Declaration of coordinated actions against COVID-19 for schools during the 2020-2021 academic year that is now beginning. In total, 29 measures and 5 recommendations for their application by the competent administrations.
Summarizing them for you:
1 / In the first place, the academic activity will be face-to-face for all levels and stages of the educational system, prioritizing it for younger students, at least until the second year of ESO.
2 / The suspension of the face-to-face teaching activity will only be adopted in exceptional situations, with previous communication to the Minister of Health and previous agreement of the Council.
3 / The staff working in the educational center will reduce their presence in to the essential, for which the telematic realization of all those non-teaching activities that allow it will be promoted.
4 / The schools will designate a coordinating person responsible for the aspects related to COVID.
5 / In general, we will have to generate in our boys and girls a culture of maintaining an interpersonal distance of at least 1.5 meters. In early childhood education and in the first cycle of primary education, the students will organize themselves into stable coexistence groups so that the children can socialize and play with each other. In these cases, the distance limitation criteria will not apply.
6 / The mandatory use of the mask is established from 6 years of age regardless of the maintenance of interpersonal distance.
7 / All of our students will perform frequent and meticulous hand hygiene, at least five times a day. In addition, all will receive education for health in general and the prevention of COVID19 in particular.
8 / The cleaning of the school will be intensified, especially in the bathrooms and places of greater use. Likewise, the facilities will be ventilated frequently, at least for 10-15 minutes.
9 / The groups will be even smaller with ratios of less than 20 students. The dining rooms will allow interpersonal distance of at least 1.5 meters, except in the case of belonging to the same group with stable coexistence. Fixed positions will be assigned throughout the year for students.
10 / In school transport, the use of the mask will be mandatory from 6 years of age and recommended for girls and boys from 3 to 5 years old.
11 / We will take the body temperature of all students and staff prior to the start of the day.
12 / People who have symptoms compatible with COVID-19 will not go to the center, whether they are part of the students, teachers or other personnel.
As you know, our school returns to fully face-to-face activity on September 3 for our students between 2 and 11 years old and on September 7 for those between 12 and 18.
We believe that neither our children nor families nor we can be locked up any longer. We have a school with a teaching staff, a physical environment, and absolutely privileged facilities that will make things much easier for us and, together with a good organization, will allow us to minimize the risks for our entire beloved educational community!
